Welcome to the APXS Outreach Website!

Welcome to the APXS instrument's home on the web!
This website is part of a (perhaps overdue!) effort to draw some attention to the great space science work being done in Canada as part of Curiosity's rover mission on Mars. We've been so caught up in doing science on this mission that we haven't put the time into sharing it with the public that perhaps we should, so here we attempt to rectify that.
The site, as you've probably already discovered, is meant as a gentle introduction to the science and operations of the instrument, and also as a place to plant the Canadian flag and thank the Canadian taxpayers who, through the Canadian Space Agency, support our work. So, if that's you, thanks! Doing this kind of work right in Canada provides an incredible return for investment. Beyond making a powerful and valuable contribution to the global scientific understanding of our nearest planetary neighbour, we are able to provide extraordinary opportunities for students to gain unique experience in space exploration, and we are proud to help inspire the next generation of Canadian scientists and engineers.
In my experience folks are often surprised to find out that this work is being done right here in Canada, and so it is our great pleasure to pull back the curtain and share a bit about our day-to-day work and also provide a new venue for people to follow the mission, with a bit more of an APXS perspective than you might find in the coverage elsewhere on the web.
Please enjoy!
